IChemE Award 2005


In September 2005 BASF received the top award - the "Entec Medal" - at the "IChemE Gala Awards Evening" in recognition of the development and application of its innovative ionic liquids. This prestigious awards, established in 1994, are granted annually by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), the British association of chemical and process engineers. With its "IChemE Awards", the association aims to "reward innovation and excellence." It intends to celebrate outstanding contributions to safety and environment, sustainable development and other aspects of the process industries.

The major criteria on which the awards are granted are originality, technical innovation, business success, impact on environment and safety, and options for wider application.

Eco-Efficiency 2005


The use of BASF’s Basil process for scavenging acids in the chemical synthesis of phosphorus compounds offers significant advantages over the conventional system. This is the result of an Eco-Efficiency Analysis performed by BASF to compare various processes.

Innovation for Growth Award 2004


For the first time, European Chemical News magazine had a running for the award. It recognizes companies that have made the most significant innovations in terms of products, processes, or R&D management over the previous year.
